Season Summary 2021/2022

PDCA Thundergirls Premiers (Baulkham Hills Cricket Club)

The 2021/22 season was a mixed bag, the Summer Juniors competition was with Kellyville Supersonics and the afternoon matches for the Thundergirls league were with Baulkham Hills Cricket Club. We won a couple of games in the mixed competition playing Under 13 Div 1, but it was very tough competition, and we could not improve much on our standing because many of the games were washed out and we didn’t have an opportunity to perform better.

The Thundergirls girls only team was an opportunity to make new friends and learn new things. We had a new coach and it was fun attending training sessions with different coaches and different views. We had a good run of victories before rain played spoilsport for many weekends, eventually we were declared winners since we were top of the league table and the semifinals and finals were rained out. It was kind of disappointing to win without having played the finals but it also showed that good form in getting to the top of the table can be an advantage in case the weather turns bad.

Through the season my wicketkeeping skills improved with experience keeping to many different types of bowlers, my batting could have been better in playing longer innings but I didn’t get much of a chance. I also switched from bowling medium pace to bowling off-spin and in a match against Winston Hills I got 4 wickets for 2 runs in 2 overs. During 2022 I want to concentrate more on my batting since as a wicketkeeper I tend to get less chances to bowl.
